Louis Vuitton Cruise 2011

It has been more than a month since my last blog post.  That’s a sign of how busy I have been... working late most nights and on weekends trying to get as much done as possible before the Christmas break.  I have had very little time for my blog, doing the things I enjoy and most unfortunately for the people that are important to me.

I am flying to Melbourne with Harry tomorrow for a short and much needed break.  I won’t be here for January 1st, so Happy New Year!

My resolution for 2011 will be to start looking after myself.  That means, less hours at work and more time for exercise, eating well, the people (and puppies) that matter most to me and doing the things I enjoy.  In 2011, I will try to get closer to that seemingly unattainable phrase: work/life balance.

Before I start cleaning and packing, I thought I would share my favourite images from the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2011 campaign.  Sigh... I wish I had tens of thousands of dollars to spend on such a beautiful wardrobe.

Which colour?

My boyfriend is picking up his new bike tomorrow.  I’ve decided I want a new bike too, so that we can go for rides together on the weekend.

He’s been doing some research for me, with my brief being that I want a bike that’s a little retro and comes with a basket.

The Sommer by Papillionaire is looking like my best option. Unfortunately it is expected to be out of stock until February.  At least that gives me plenty of time to decide on a colour.

I’ve knocked out red, so what do you think – black or blue?

Glebe Street Fair

How was your weekend?  We took advantage of the lovely sunny weather on Sunday and headed to the Glebe Street Fair.  As you can see below, plenty of other people had the same idea.

I bought an A3 Inner West map from Suburban Type and a large red felted wool heart ornament.

I also ordered the painting I featured in last year’s Glebe Street Fair post from Desperate Damsels.

Jacques Helleu & Chanel

This book was going to be on my Christmas wish list.  I originally saw it at Kinokuniya for around $200, but figured I could find it cheaper online.  Harry told me about Booko, a website that compares prices at bookstores within Australia and online stores that ship to Australia.  I found it at Readings in Melbourne for only $79.95, so I decided to buy it for myself now instead of waiting for Christmas.

Photographer Morten Holtum

Tonight I am sharing a selection of images from the interiors portfolio of Danish photographer Morten Holtum.

I love the use of black and white in these rooms, the wallpaper and other details.  I especially love the storage trunk halfway through and the bright pink spiral staircase at the end.

Stormy weather

It's Summer in less than a month, yet it feels more like Winter with the cold and stormy weather we’ve had in Sydney.

I’m considering pulling my coats back out for another round.

Kate Spade London pop-up shop

After a busy week, I’m winding down tonight with homemade pizza, a glass of cab sav, chocolate biscuits, both puppies on my lap and the Glee soundtrack on Grooveshark.

Here’s something I came across earlier this week, but haven’t had time to share – the Kate Spade pop-up shop in London.

I love the idea of pop-up shops.  They generally don’t have fit-outs as interesting as this one, but then Kate Spade is not the type of brand to conform to what is usual.

According to the website, the shop has been set-up as if it was Kate’s own apartment in London and the attention to detail is amazing.

Check out these images and more on Kate Spade’s Facebook page.

I also found these great shots at Bright Bazaar.  I adore the grey sofa, the painted stools and the wallpapered closet.

Classic French songs

I started Level 2 French at Alliance Fran├žaise tonight, so I thought I’d share a couple of classic French songs that I’m learning at the moment.

For me, formidable by Charles Aznavour

I love this song.  We translated it in Level 1 French class last week.  Basically it’s about a French man who is in love with an English woman and he is singing about his frustration at not knowing enough English to truly express how he feels to her.

Non, je ne regrette rien by Edith Piaf

We watched La Vie en Rose on the weekend.  It is a portrayal of Edith Piaf’s life story and this song is played in the closing scene.

I picked youtube clips with lyrics because like I said I’m trying to learn these songs.  Feel free to sing along if you know them.

A rainy weekend in the city

How was your weekend?  It was cold and rainy here in Sydney... Spring where did you go?

I took a quick trip into the city on Saturday morning to pick up some theatre tickets for my sister.

I also bought some cute notepads from Typo, a black knit from MNG and a sheet of this Paris giftwrap from Kinokuniya

I love the Kinokuniya bookstore in Sydney’s TGV.  They had an exhibition called art by design which included lovely handmade products from me and amber.  I also picked out some new books to add to my wishlist.

The black apartment

I first saw images of this apartment in a magazine a couple of years ago, but having just found it online I decided to share it here.

This space was designed for Cindy Gallop by The Apartment Creative Agency back in 2008.

I love the use of black on black, shoes and books as art and the idea of a completely open space with only curtains to create rooms as required.
