A stylist's home in Copenhagen

I discovered this lovely home on Bolig Magasinet and did some research to find it is the home of the owner of this blog, Ellen's Album.  Rikke Graff Juel is a stylist, decorator and visual merchandiser from Copenhagen, Denmark.

I especially love the open plan living/dining/office space in this home with the black floating shelving contrasting against the white wall.

Paris watercolour

Yesterday we walked from our apartment in the 8eme arrondissement along Boulevard Haussmann to Galeries Lafayette in the 9eme arrondissement.  I bought my first Paris memento, this sweet little watercolour painting of the Eiffel Tower, direct from the artist who had set up a little studio in the store.

We have arrived

We arrived at our Paris apartment late yesterday afternoon, exhausted after 22 hours of flying time, a 3-hour stopover in Abu Dhabi and each dragging 30kg of luggage around Paris, up and down metro station stairs and then up another 4 flights of stairs to our apartment.

Our first morning in Paris comprised of a breakfast of petit pain avec banane et chocolat (bread filled with banana and chocolate) and a stroll which accidentally led us to the Arc de Triomphe.

We're excited to finally be here and looking forward to spending some time exploring our patch of the city today.

Bathroom tiles

We have tiles on our bathroom walls.  They haven't been grouted yet, but it's exciting to see the room finally coming together.

The black tiles (which will also be used on the floor) have a slight glitter effect which doesn't show up in the photos.

By the end of Friday, the tiler should be finished.  Then it's just painting and fittings and this room is done.

Est Magazine

Est Magazine is an Australian online magazine full of inspiring interiors, fashion and food.  Here are some of my favourite images from the latest issue.  I especially love the mix of chunky knits, neutrals, metallics and a splash of bright pink in the first image below.

Musical chairs

I remember playing this game at school as a kid.  It was so much fun.  Of course, I wasn't this stylish.
